About SKONP

SKONP (Southampton KONP) was formed early in 2013. Since then we have campaigned publicly on the streets, at City Council meetings and in public meetings, attended meetings of City Council committees, the local CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) and other relevant bodies, and written letters to the press. In 2013 we organised a 1,900-signature petition in support of NHS services which helped to shape the policy of Southampton City Council. In November 2014 we organised a 3-week exhibition in Southampton Central Library about NHS privatisation, and a public meeting about TTIP, the trade agreement which threatens public services including the NHS.

We are a non-party-political organisation, working to defend and improve the NHS and not to advance the agenda of any political party. We co-ordinate activities with other organisations working for the same aims.

We welcome anybody who agrees with our aims. We are always looking to expand our range of activity. We are particularly looking for people who could help us with some simple street theatre and support the people running our Twitter and Facebook accounts – but all help is welcome.

We hold regular meetings open to all members and street leafleting sessions. For details of membership please email us at skeepnhspublic@gmail.com
